Internet Explorer 3, For Windows 95
- Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Internet Tools, and Get on the Internet
- "Get Connected", click next.
- Choose Manual, "lets you configure your own internal settings. You can use either a modem or a local area network to connect to the internet", click next.
- "Welcome to Internet Setup", click next.
- "How to Connect", choose "connect using my phone line", click next.
- "Service Provider Information", enter "DCNet2000", click next.
- "Phone Number",
- if modem is X2/v.90, use area code 713 & phone # 713-554-2211 or 2212 or 2213
- if north of 1960, use area code 281 & phone # 281-791-2211 for X2/V.90
- For Flex/V.90 use area code 713 & phone # 713-554-2210
and if north of 1960, for flex/v.90 use area code 281 and phone # 281-791-2210
- click next.
- "Username and Password", enter your assigned username and password, all lowercase, click next.
- "IP Address", select "my internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one", click next.
- "DNS Server Address", enter DNS Server as 204.2.53.2 and Alternate DNS Server as 204.2.53.3, click next.
- "Internet Mail", "use internet mail" should be checked, if not, click the box. Enter your e-mail address as username@dcnet2000.com (all lowercase). Enter your mail server as mail.dcnet2000.com,click next.
- "Windows Messaging Profile", profile should read "internet mail settings", and the box "use this profile when starting windows messaging" should be checked, if not, click the box, click next.
- "Complete Configuration", click finish.
- Is there a "short cut to DCNet2000" on your desktop? If yes, skip this step. Otherwise, double-click My Computer, double-click Dial-up Networking, then right-click the DCNet2000 icon, click Create Short-cut, at the Windows warning, click yes.
- Click the X in the upper right corner to close the Dial-up Networking window.
- Double-click Control Panel (from My Computer window), and double-click Network. Check that there are only three components lists; Client for MS Networks, Dial-up adapter, and TCP/IP. If there are others, select them one at a time and click on Remove. When done, click OK, click the X in the upper right corner to close the Control Panel and My Computer windows.
- Is there an Internet Explorer icon on your desktop? If yes, skip this step. Otherwise, double-click My Computer, double click C:, double-click Program Files, double-click Internet Explorer, Right-click the Internet Explorer icon, click Create short-cut, place the mouse pointer over the Internet Explorer short-cut, click and hold the mouse button, then drag the icon out of the window to the desktop. Click the X in the upper right corner closing each open window.
- Right-click on the Internet Explorer icon, click on properties (at the bottom of the menu). Select the Navigation tab. Set Start page address to http://www.dcnet2000.com, this will be your home page, click APPLY, click OK.
- Click Start, click Shutdown, select Restart the Computer, and click yes.
- Congratulations your done!
